We All Have A Shared Responsibility.
While most know us for our stewardship and advocacy, we may be most excited about our environmental education programming under the banner of, "Love Our Waterways." The centerpiece of our work is our NEW 8-page brochure.
In this brochure we talk bout the vastness of Michigan’s fresh waters, the devastating effects of litter, the importance of recycling and the need to do better. We offer 18 easy ways anyone can protect, care for, and improve our treasured and vulnerable waters. Other elements of our Love Our Waterways programming includes; public service announcements, promotional banners, promotional stickers, signage, 10’ x 10’ exhibitor tent, and much more. These too are available for FREE to any one, or any group, wanting to promote environmental education and stewardship. |
We wish to thank R.E. Olds Foundation for their support. It is because of them we are able to make our first publication, an 8-page, fact-filled brochure, available for FREE. We hope this, and our other work, will inspire current and future generations of environmental stewards.
Litter Is An Indicator Of A Community's Health.
Littering Invites More Litter.
It is estimated that there are nearly 50 billion pieces of litter along U.S. roadways and waterways. That is the equivalent to 152 pieces per American resident or 387 pieces per household. Americans understand that litter has a strong negative impact on their communities. Large majorities of U.S. residents (75 to 97 percent) recognize that litter negatively affects the environment, our waterways, property taxes, home values, tourism and businesses, quality of life, and health and safety in their communities. Individuals are much more likely to litter in a littered environment. |
Living With Trash And Its After Effects.

Glass: Over 1,000,000 years Tires: 2,000 years Monofilament fishing line: 600 years Plastic bags: 10 - 1,000 years 6-pack holders: 450 years Cigarette butts: 18 months to 10 years Aluminum foil: Never Styrofoam: Never |
