Red Cedar River Cleanup | Reimagine • Rediscover • Reconnect

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, April 6, 7
Time: 11AM - 3:00PM

From MSU's Jenison Fieldhouse to the confluence of the Grand River (see map at bottom of page).
•  Day One, April 6: Jenison Fieldhouse to Krueger's Landing

•  Day Two, April 7: Kruger's Landing to Confluence of the Grand River

We are thrilled to be partnering with Red Cedar Fly Fishers with the care of our prized Red Cedar River. Red Cedar Fly Fishers is among the first to officially commit to our Adopt-A-River program, where environmental minded organizations pledge their support for the ongoing care, protection, and improvement, of stretches of our treasured rivers for the benefit of fish and wildlife, recreation and sport.

ADOPT-A-RIVER SECTIONS (Red Cedar River)

•  Red Cedar Fly Fishers | West end of MSU Campus to Krueger's Landing (2.4 miles)
•  Trout Unlimited-Lansing | Krueger's Landing to Pennsylvania Avenue (1.3 miles)
•  Potter Park Zoo | Red Cedar River Krueger's Landing to Pennsylvania Avenue (1.0 miles)
•  Delta Sigma Phi | Hagadorn to MSU dam (1.1 miles)

With the help of Trout Unlimited-Lansing and Red Cedar Fly Fishers support, and help of other volunteers, this stretch of Red Cedar River will be fully navigable and looking its best, earlier in the year, than ever before. This stretch of river represents some of the most scenic and sensitive stretches of river in the greater Lansing region.

In addition to their combined 3.7 mile Adapt-A-River miles, this same weekend, we will complete the cleanup of the Red Cedar River all the way to the confluence of the Grand River. This builds on our transformational change where we now present Michigan's most scenic, varied, and pleasant, urban waterways designation.
With this project we are primarily focusing on the water. We welcome others to join us who are skilled at paddling or comfortable working from a boat. If you are 'skilled' at using a chainsaw, there are a couple of hotspots where you expertise is most certainly welcomed.
If you wish to support, but prefer to be on land. No problem. We welcome additional assistance along the riverbank, in the surrounding lowlands, and that area leading up to our prized Lansing River Trail. There will be plenty for all to do.
Join us.  It is amazing the ease and joy in which we accomplish great things when working together. All equipment, bottled water and snacks, will be provided, We simply ask that you join us, enjoy your time in making a last impact.

If you wish to volunteer, be events sponsor, or become a Michigan Waterways Stewards partner, pledge your support via the contact form just below. We look forward to hearing from you and in advance we thank you.
