Inaugural Kalamazoo River and River Trail Cleanup 

The Rotary Club of Kalamazoo, in partnership with Michigan Waterways Stewards, is launching the first-of-its-kind community-wide Kalamazoo River and River Trail Cleanup. ​Community interest and support for this event is strong and rapidly growing. Patrick McVerry, City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation Director, is already claiming this to be the city’s largest volunteer intuitive of this type, ever.

We present you with an extraordinary opportunity to make this event bigger and better. Far greater than anyone imagined. Join us. Make a lasting impact. Showcase the best of Western Michigan University and its Greek Community. 

An Unprecedented Gift to the Greater Kalamazoo Community

By adopting the Kalamazoo River and River Trail Cleanup as WMU Greek-wide community service project you have the unique opportunity to gift the greater Kalamazoo community with cleaner, healthier, and a most pleasant waterways and river trail experience. A gift of this size and scope is unprecedented not only at WMU, but across all of Michigan, and well beyond.

This event is a build off of what Delta Sigma Phi has done at MSU over the past year (see right), and as recently as this past weekend when they partnered with Sigma Kappa.

This Kalamazoo River and River Trail Cleanup community service project will elevate the Greek community at WMU and the greater Kalamazoo community. The publicity and good will generated off WMU's Greek-wide community service project will benefit the Greek community across all of Michigan.

The 1st fraternity to pledge support.

Don’t pass up on this opportunity. Everything needed will be provided for you; food, drink, and equipment. All that is being asked of you is that you show up, commit to only two hours, and make a lasting impact. The result, you will be presenting an extraordinary, first-of-its-kind gift, to the greater Kalamazoo community. ​

 We have dedicated Saturday, April 13, as WMU Greek Community Service Day. We understand that this date may not be convenient for your fraternity or sorority. No worries, join us on April 20, the main event day. We will gladly showcase you organization then.

2. We will seek local media coverage, including WMU media.
3. We will notify WMU's president, mayor of Kalamazoo, of your individual organization's and of the collective Greek community service.
4. We will notify you respective national headquarters of your community service.
